Palácio de Belém

The Palácio de Belém (National Palace of Belém) located a few metres away from the Jerónimos Monastery has, over time, been the official residence of Portuguese monarchs and, after the establishment of the First Republic in 1910, the Presidents of the Portuguese Republic.

Nowadays the current President of Portugal Aníbal António Cavaco Silva lives there. The Palace dates back to the second half of the 17th century.
