Next it's time for a sweet stop at the famous Pastéis de Belém bakery cafe This is the only place where you can taste them. Dieters beware, because after the first, comes the second, the third, fourth, fifth... you can´t stop! That hot creamy filling and crunchy pastry sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar. Hmmmm!
On average the factory produces around 15.000 pastéis de Belém every day (the record currently stands at 50,000 sold in a single day). The secret of such success? Magical ingredients? Talented hands? Who knows... It's a secret closely guarded by a priviliged few!
Before you leave the factory, take a look around - watch them baking the Pastéis de Belém through the large kitchen windows and pay attention to the beautiful tiled panels in some of the five rooms opened to public. Take as many photos as you want!
