Imperative recipes

Recipes are teachers' favorite way to introduce the imperative. They are a perfect mix of different verbs naturally put together in a short text, which, for once, has not been written only for gramatic purpose. It does not sound so artificial, and, icing on the cake, it teaches you more than a new tense, you get to learn something useful: how to impress your future parents-in-law.

Portuguese Connection's Language School team chose for you the recipe of the best pastry in the world: the Pastel de Nata.

However, before trying it out, you might want to have a look at the basic imperative rules:

REGRAS DE FORMAÇÃO:
Formamos o imperativo (afirmativa) a partir do presente do indicativo:

(1) No singular, tratamento informal (tu) é exatamente igual à forma da 3a pessoa do singular (ele);

(2) No singular, tratamento formal (você, o senhor, a senhora) e no plural (vocês, os senhores e as senhoras) retira-se a terminação o à 1a pessoa do singular (eu) do Presente do Indicativo e acrescenta-se, singular e plural respetivamente, e e em (verbos em AR), e a e am (verbos em ER e IR).

Vamos observar alguns exemplos.
(1)
Presente do indicativo  ele fala / ele come / ele abre

Imperativo  Tu fala mais alto!

                        Tu come a sopa!

Tu abre a janela, por favor!

(2) Presente do indicativoeu falo / eu como / eu abro

Imperativo Você fale mais alto!

                       Você coma a sopa!

Você abra a janela, por favor!

                       Vocês falem mais alto!
                       Vocês
comam a sopa!
                       Vocês
abram a janela, por favor!
