Castelo de São Jorge & Sé de Lisboa

Castelo de São Jorge (Saint George Castle) is a Moorish castle occupying a commanding hilltop overlooking the historic center of the Portuguese city of Lisbon and Tagus River. The strongly fortified citadel dates from the medieval period of Portuguese history, and is one of the main tourist sites of Lisbon. In fact, visitors can climb the towers, walk along the reconstructed ramparts of the castle walls and enjoy the view.

Sé de Lisboa (Lisbon Cathedral) is a Roman Catholic Cathedral and the oldest building of the city, built by Portugal’s first king D. Afonso Henriques, in 1150. Since the beginning of the construction, the building has been modified several times and survived many earthquakes. It is nowadays a mix of different architectural styles (Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque). Definitely worth seeing! To visit, just take the old 28 tram and enjoy the ride.
